1956 Cadillac Fleetwood - Sixty Special
Henry and Julie were looking for a vintage car that was something different from what you see today. Searching through Craigslist, they found this beauty. They drove to Grundy, VA and rescued this car. Mission accomplished! The former owner, who did not have the car exceptionally long, had purchased it from his pastor, who bought the car new, making the Stricklands the third owners. It appears that the car has been used, but overall it is in great original condition. It is powered by a 4-barrel, 365 ci engine, which was the first year for that motor. It has 94K original miles. Like many cars this age, it has been parked for long periods of time. It took a little Tender Loving Care (TLC) to make the car safe to drive, and while a work in process, Henry reports that the car seems to be running better the more they drive it. The car has many unique Cadillac features such as its physical size, bulleted chrome grill and finned quarter panels. Under the hood, the master cylinder is mounted on the radiator support instead of the fire wall, and the air conditioner is mounted in the trunk. The jar-type washer fluid canister looks more like a peanut butter jar than something found under the hood of a car.
Henry and Julie wanted uniqueness, and unique is what they got. When you see this car coming you don’t know if you should salute, or bow your head and pray.

"Such a comfortable ride. Black Betty just floats over those bumps!"- Julie Strickland
